Feed Mill Integration
How a steam flaking line is integrated into a running feed mill: interfaces with intake, steam, dosing and automation, and how downtime is kept to a planned window.
In an existing feed mill the flaking line is rarely the hard part. The interfaces are: where cleaned grain is taken from, where steam comes from, where flakes rejoin the process, and how the new section is controlled from your existing system.
Interfaces to define early
- Take-off point and the conveying capacity available there
- Steam supply, condensate return and boiler headroom
- Flake destination: dosing hopper, mixer line or separate storage
- Electrical supply and available installed power
- Control system integration and recipe handling
- Space, building height and access for installation
Installation window
Most of the work can be prepared while the mill runs. The tie-in points are what require a stop, so the realistic question is how long that stop is and what has to be ready before it starts. That is planned per project, not promised as a standard figure.
